Wastewater-based epidemiology is a promising public health surveillance tool for tracking SARS-CoV-2 for a community or institution population. Dr. Steve Hrudey, chair of the COVID-19 Wastewater Coalition’s national Research Advisory Group, gives CanCOVID an update on the current status and discusses the critical challenges for implementing wastewater-based epidemiology of COVID-19 in Canada. In addition, the Coalition's Public Health Advisory Group has developed ground-breaking guidance on ethics and communications for this novel approach.
