KT Connects presents “Beyond engagement: Towards community-based and community-driven knowledge exchange in Indigenous health research”
This webinar will provide a brief overview of Indigenous approaches to knowledge exchange (KE) and offer strategies for ensuring that community priorities are meaningfully reflected in KE processes and outcomes. Join Katie Bauder and Jessica Humchitt from the First Nations Health Authority to learn how community-based KE approaches can be applied to build capacity, transform the health care system and transcend limitations of the western colonial research model. Drawing on Indigenous protocols such as OCAP® and cultural safety and humility, they will discuss how to uphold Indigenous perspectives and knowledge and maintain a respectful approach when working with Indigenous collaborators. They will also highlight some key examples of creative, strengths-based approaches for sharing research findings to communities that also function to improve health outcomes for Indigenous people and communities.
