Abstract

Cervical cancer is preventable, yet more than 340,000 women die each year. Approximately 90% of these deaths take place in low and middle-income countries (LMICs), where access to prophylactics, diagnostics and treatments for cervical cancer is low. The single most effective way to prevent cervical cancer is to ensure that girls 9 to 14 years of age have access to an effective HPV vaccination schedule, but unfortunately many girls do not have access to such a vaccination schedule.

This presentation explores our moral responsibilities to women and girls at risk of developing cervical cancer in LMICs, and the present opportunity for governments and individuals in the Global North to do our part to help accelerate the global elimination of cervical cancer.
