As we head into the fall and winter, it is important to plan for possible co-circulation of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19), influenza and other respiratory viruses. This rounds session will help congregate living settings (such as shelters, group homes, retirement homes and long term care homes) prepare for respiratory viruses in the upcoming season. It will provide an overview of the features of influenza, including how these compare to COVID-19. General measures for infection prevention and control will be reviewed, along with influenza vaccines, antiviral use in treatment and prevention during outbreaks, and testing for respiratory viruses.

About the presenters: Dr. Celeste Loewe and Dr. Bryna Warshawsky
Dr. Celeste Loewe is a public health medical resident with Northern Ontario School of Medicine. She is doing an elective in the Health Protection Department at Public Health Ontario.
Dr. Bryna Warshawsky is a Public Health Physician in the Health Protection Department at Public Health Ontario. She is also cross-appointed in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Western University.
