PHO: COVID-19 Vaccine Candidates in Development, Special Focus on mRNA and Viral Vector Platforms

Canada has taken a portfolio approach to advance purchase of COVID-19 vaccines that are currently in development, including mRNA vaccines and viral vector-based vaccines. Here we will describe the technical basis of these technologies and discuss the data available to date.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the mechanism of action of mRNA and viral vector-based vaccines
  • Discuss the available evidence for the vaccines that are currently in development and may be available in Canada if proven safe and effective
